Growing Stronger Together
The Anfield/Breckfield Stronger Communities Initiative is underway and covers the neighbourhood within Walton Lane, Anfield Road, Breck Road, Breckfield Road North, Hamilton Road and St. Domingo Road. It means local people can look forward to:
• An additional six Police Officers and four Police Community Support Officers dedicated to the area
• A programme of community engagement and celebration
• A drive to improve services and make sure that they are accessed by those who need them most
The programme got off to a great start in April, when 1,300 people from the area joined in a family fun day and talent show, complete with climbing wall and funfair.
Two local Community Councils and Residents Associations are now planning an on-going programme of community activity.
Liverpool City Council, Arena Housing, Merseyside Police and other partners will also meet on a regular basis to make sure they are communicating effectively and acting on what local people say. During week commencing 12th July 2010 residents in this area will be visited by partnership staff to seek their views and see how best we can work together.
Liverpool East Neighbourhood Manager, Kathy Allen, said: “This programme will make sure we are targeting services effectively, help us further reduce crime and give our residents a voice.”
The Stronger Communities Programme targets the Anfield/Breckfield Renewal Area and the Grizedale Estate. To find out more, contact Neighbourhood Manager, Kathy Allen, on 0151 254 7737 or Kathy.allen@liverpool.gov.uk.
